Japanese Sales Charts: PS Vita Gets a Huge Boost, Pokemon X/Y & Grand Theft Auto V Open Big

Thanks to the new PS Vita 2000 model, the Japanese sales for the handheld exploded this past week in Japan, finishing at 60,166, up nearly 57,000 units from the low 3,538 seen previously. For the other Sony platforms, the PS3 was up to 12,395, while the PSP dropped slightly to 3,467. Also, the Wii U finished behind the PSP with 3,276 sold.

As for the software, it was a huge week in Japan, with Pokemon X/Y selling a combined 1,866 million copies, Grand Theft Auto V opening to over 360,000 on PS3, and Tales of Symphonia Chronicles for PS3 debuting at 77,228.

Here’s the top 20 selling games in Japan between October 7th – 13th, according to Media Create:
