Fantasy RPG Runemaster to Bring Six “Unique” Worlds to Explore, Will be Based on Norse Mythology

Announced at gamescom 2014, Paradox Interactive and Paradox Development Studios are bringing fantasy RPG Runemaster to the PlayStation 4. Based on Norse mythology, the game draws inspiration from “Viking sagas and the Eddas of Viking bards.” According to Paradox:

Runemaster tosses the player into the chaotic worlds of legend — Midgard, Jotunheim, Niflheim, and so on — as the universe threatens to come to an end. Ragnarok could be coming and the player can choose to prevent this world-smashing cataclysm or to hasten it, bringing with it a new age.

Players will have six “unique” worlds to explore and six races to choose from. Each race will get its own unique quests set in a randomly generated world, so two different races can be playing completely different games.

Aside from quests and exploration, players will get a tactical battle map in order to lead their armies against enemy troops. With experience and progression, players can earn outfits and banners for their squads to enhance capabilities and unlock items like magic weapons.

Runemaster is scheduled for release in 2015.
