P.T. Spiritual Successor Allison Road’s Dev Releases Statement Regarding Cancellation

When Lilith Ltd abruptly announced the cancellation of its P.T. spiritual successor, Allison Road, we were told to expect a statement within a few days that we assumed would explain what transpired. Ten days isn’t exactly few but the developer has finally released a statement via its Facebook account, stating that its partnership with publisher Team17 (The Escapists, Yooka-Laylee) ended mutually. Unfortunately, however, the statement doesn’t exactly say why the game was cancelled which, going by responses, seems to have upset a lot of people.

Here’s the full statement:

Hi all,

After a long consideration between Team17 and ourselves, we have reached a mutual agreement to end our collaboration on publishing Allison Road under Team17’s Games label.

Sometime things pan out differently than expected as game development and publishing have so many layers of complexity. We’d like to especially thank everyone for their support throughout, it has and will always be appreciated!

Team17 picked up publishing rights for Allison Road, leading to its Kickstarter campaign being cancelled. Why the partnership ended remains a mystery.
