Call of Duty: WWII Won’t Have Playable Axis Characters in Campaign, Will Include Battle of the Bulge

Call of Duty: WWII developers Sledgehammer Games hosted a “Making of Call of Duty” livestream yesterday, revealing some of the aspects of the upcoming first-person shooter.

First off, the developers answered the question of playable Axis characters in the single-player campaign by saying that COD: WWII’s story “follows the 1st Infantry Division and Allied effort. We feature a diverse and multinational cast, but no playable Axis characters.

Whether Axis characters will be playable in the game’s multiplayer mode though is a whole other deal as the developer has confirmed that players will be able to fight as German soldiers, although it has said that the studio is trying to handle it in a respectful way.

The developer also revealed that one of the many battles featured in the game will include the Battle of the Bulge, which was one of the most significant battles during the war.

The next major reveal for COD:WWII will be at E3 where we’ll hopefully find out more about the game’s multiplayer mode and other new features the single-player campaign will introduce.
