Shenmue III Gets Its First Teaser Trailer

While Shenmue III had a wildly successful Kickstarter over two years ago, information on the highly anticipated game has been scarce. Today though, Ys Net has released the first teaser trailer for Shenmue III, showing off some scenery, fighting, and more. This trailer is the first of many that we’ll (hopefully) see.

Here’s the trailer:

Shenmue III also recently got a few other, non-game related announcements, including that the title is being published by Deep Silver.  Here’s more information on this development:

Shenmue III Director Yu Suzuki said:

I am very pleased to secure this global partnership with Deep Silver, which is comprised of incredible men and women who have a deep passion for bringing Japanese titles to the rest of the world. Throughout this process, Deep Silver has expressed a deep passion for Japanese games, the Shenmue franchise and its fans – this gives me further confidence in Shenmue III and that we have found the best partner possible.

Koch Media/Deep Silver CEO Klemens Kundratitz added, “Shenmue is one of a few game franchises that have historical value whilst continuing to ignite passion across gamers. We are delighted to have signed this publishing partnership and look forward to utilizing our global publishing network to maximize the potential of this highly anticipated game.”

Additionally, we will be getting remasters of the other Shenmue titles, hopefully sooner rather than later:

According to Gematsu, the report’s author has been behind some accurate leaks in the past including the news of Atlus publishing The King of Fighters XIV in the West a few days before it was officially announced. Rice Digital says it got a hold of the info via a trusted source close to Atlus.

“Both games, Episodes I & II, may be released together rather than separately,” reads the post. “They are presumably being geared up for launch to precede Shenmue III, which could possibly slip into 2018.”

Shenmue III will release in 2018 on the PlayStation 4 and PC.
