Bungie Preparing For Next-Generation Consoles

Ah, Bungie. A company the PlayStation side of the videogame world hasn’t heard much from, even despite the company announcing a split from Microsoft exclusivity back in October 2007. They have been toiling away at a new secret IP, one which may even be ready for the next generation of consoles…

In speaking with CVG recently, despite not believing the current generation of console have been fully tapped (and if games such as Killzone 3 and Gran Turismo 5 are any indication, then at least the PlayStation 3 is nowhere near fully tapped), the popular developer has stated that despite “not knowing exactly when [developers are ‘ready’ to kick off a new generation of hardware],” their next (presumably multiplatform) title after Halo: Reach “has to be planned, engineered, and designed to potentially span multiple hardware generations considering [they] are working on a decade’s worth of storytelling and game experiences.”

What do you think? Do developers need to start prepping for a next-generation system, or is there still plenty of juice left in the current systems (or at least in the PlayStation 3)? Sound off below!
