In development by Snowblind Studios, Lord of the Rings: War in the North is an action-adventure RPG which is looking to be the best in the series. The game will be based on Tolkien’s original Lord of the Rings novels and Peter Jackson’s 2001-2003 film trilogy. As the anticipation for gamescom increases, LOTR: War in the North has received its trailer for the gaming event.
War in the North will feature “unseen lands, story elements, and characters from Middle-earth, as well as elements familiar from past feature films”. The action role-playing game will offer upgradeable weapons and special abilities that develop along with the game’s characters. Snowblind Studios founder had promised players the game will also feature “an innovative approach to online co-op gameplay, woven throughout every facet of the game,” which would further suggest this is looking set to be the best iteration in the franchise. The game’s currently scheduled for a release in 2011.
