EA Sports MMA and Sherdog.com Team Up for MMA Fighter Exchange Program

In preparation for the launch of EA Sports MMA, Sherdog.com, a property of CraveOnline, has launched a unique MMA Fighter Exchange Program. Just as they would in EA MMA‘s in-game career mode, 4 young MMA prospects will travel the globe to learn new MMA techniques, honing their skills until they are ready to compete at an upcoming STRIKEFORCE promotion. Each of the 4 “up and comers” will be paired with 4 of STRIKEFORCE’s best MMA fighters including: Jason “Mayhem” Miller, Gegard Mousasi, Luke Rockhold and Renaldo “Jacare” Souza. STRIKEFORCE is the premier MMA league featured in EA Sports MMA.

Sherdog.com will be posting behind-the-scenes footage and info about each of the fighters and their training sessions taking place in Japan, Brazil and the United States over the course of the coming weeks. When their training camp is complete, the 4 protegés will make their STRIKEFORCE debut in undercard matches on a December 4th STRIKEFORCE promotion. Sherdog.com will be providing live streams of the undercard matches so you can watch the culmination of each of these fighter’s arduous journey.

This closely mirrors EA MMA‘s career mode, as it’s the only MMA game that not only lets you get in the cage to throw down, but you’ll also get to travel the globe, learning different techniques and disciplines from top MMA trainers such as Randy Couture, Pat Miletich, Rickson Gracie and Bas Rutten.

This unique initiative helps EA Sports prove: that if it happens in MMA, then it’s “in the game”. EA MMA will be available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 starting next week on October 19th. In the mean time, check out the MMA Fighter Exchange Program at Sherdog.com.

Look out for PlayStation LifeStyle’s review of EA MMA, some time next week.
