One of the things fans appreciated about Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 was the deep roster. With 56 characters, MvC2 made finding the right combination for your fighting a possibility; even if it was challenging. With the announcement of Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, the roster is, as of this writing, is noticeably smaller at 36 characters. Along with that, popular characters such as Ken or Strider Hiryu weren’t included. Why the difference?
Ryota Niitsuma, Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Producer, discussed the subject of as smaller roster in a recent interview. When the questions was brought raised about the smaller roster this time around, Niitsuma-san had this to say:
Right now it’s very expensive having to make new 3D models for each[from scratch], followed by three-dimensional animations too.
Hopefully,for those characters that fit in with the game design, DLC may open the door to additional combatants.
