Pachter Weighs in with September NPD Predictions

Wedbush Securities Michael Pachter has issued a report with his estimates for hardware and software sales for the month of September in North America. The NPD will publish its official report on new U.S. retail sales of games, hardware and accessories on Thursday, October 13th. The sales forecast predicts a year-over-year overall revenue increase of four percent, growing from $612 million to $635 million, with the PS3 occupying the middle slot for overall hardware sales.

The projected sales figures are as follows:

  • PlayStation 3 – 260,000
  • Xbox 360 – 360,000
  • 3DS – 225,000
  • Wii – 190,000
  • DS – 185,000

The report attributes the overall revenue increase due to strong releases such as FIFA Soccer 12, Gears of Wars 3 and Resistance 3. Wedbush Securities also stated that every month this year has seen an overall sales decline, except for April and September, but expects a similar sales increase for October with heavy hitters Battlefield 3 and Batman: Arkham City shipping to retailers.
