Sony Looking to Expand PlayStation Suite

It looks like Sony doesn’t want to limit to PlayStation Suite platform to just in-house hardware, as the company is currently looking to expand to other devices.

Speaking to Engadget, SCE Chairman Kaz Hirai explained the company’s plans for the future of PlayStation Suite, saying the platform “isn’t an ecosystem where we want to keep everything within the Sony family.” Nothing has been made official, but Hirai made it clear that Sony is “in discussions with non-Sony companies to bring them onboard.”

Currently, the PlayStation Suite is available for Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play, Sony Tablet S and Sony Tablet P, with PlayStation 3 and Vita compatibility expected in the future.

This is a smart move on Sony’s part if they truly expect the PlayStation Suite to find a decent amount of success in the future. The more devices that support this content, the more viable the platform will be in the future.
