New Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Video, Concept Art, & Screenshots Released

Ubisoft has released a new video showing the technology used in Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, in addition to new screenshots and concept art.

The trailer shows footage of the game throughout, with all of the action being narrated by someone from Ubisoft. The narrator explains that working with former Navy SEALs enabled Ubisoft to gain unprecedented insight into the latest military techniques and allows them to execute a unique and authentic vision of near-future technology. The narrator explains winning the battle is about knowing the enemy. The UAV (or drone) is small, light, and adaptable — it provides a powerful tool for surveillance and reconnaissance. Footage of the UAV’s camera is then shown, followed by footage of the drone flying through the air. The narrator then explains that the drone’s detection abilities can be enhanced by combining sensor grenades and placed magnetic sensor packages with use of the drone. Footage of enemies being seen through walls and then taken out is shown. The narrator explains that the tools, in addition to the Cross Com, will give players the ultimate situational awareness and will set the battle on their terms.

The narrator then discusses optical camouflage and says that it gives a player’s team extra opportunities to observe, strike, and extract. The player should exploit his or her technological advantage to precisely coordinate with his or her team. Players should use the drone and sensors to identify targets, then position the team and take out enemies with a “Tag ‘Em and Bag ‘Em” feature. Footage of the drone marking enemies is shown. The narrator then explains that after marking enemies, players should line up targets and take them down. Footage of the Ghosts taking down enemies is shown. Next, footage of the drone landing, exploring on wheels and marking enemies is shown. The trailer closes with some additional footage, the narrator saying to stay tuned for the next Inside Recon video, the release date and box art, and then the Ghost Recon and Ubisoft ComDev logos are shown.

Ubisoft also released screenshots of the game and some concept art. Most of the screenshots show the drone in various activities: using the camera to identify targets, flying above targets which have been marked, and flying next to a Ghost. One shows a Ghost with what appears to be a Thrown Sensor above his head. (The Thrown Sensor identifies hostiles and indicates their positions on the HUD. Its signal can penetrate walls, vehicles, and other objects.) One shows a close-up of a Ghost’s head with his Cross Com on in his glasses. One shows a Warhound (a self-mobile, unmanned vehicle which delivers artillery and also acts as cover for the Ghosts). The concept art is of the drone and the Warhound.
