DICE Plans to Expand Beyond the Battlefield Franchise Going Forward

We haven’t seen a whole lot from DICE besides Battlefield over the past couple of years. While yes, the studio did bring us Mirror’s Edge in 2008, there hasn’t been another title in the same vein from them since. Fortunately, the developer is promising to mix things up in the future, as the Battlefield franchise isn’t the only series they plan to work on.

Speaking to Joystiq at this year’s GDC, DICE general manager Karl-Magnum Troedsson emphasized the fact that more Battlefield isn’t the only thing the studio has in its future.

We also have an ongoing plan that those products should not only be Battlefield, though I cannot say more than that.

Reports hinting at a Mirror’s Edge sequel have circulated the web in the past, but whether or not another installment in the franchise is actually in the works at DICE remains to be seen. With the power of Frostbite 2.0, there’s a lot of potential for the team to do something really incredible, so stay tuned for more info on what DICE is working on next besides the obvious Battlefield 4.
