BioWare Announces N7 Weekend Operation SILENCER For Mass Effect 3, Vorcha Next Playable Race In Multiplayer?

BioWare has announced the next weekend challenge for Mass Effect 3‘s online multiplayer mode and it involves taking down a great number of one of the game’s most difficult enemies.

Operation SILENCER, which begins Friday, May 11th at 6:00 PM PST and ends Monday, May 14th at 5:00 PM PST for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC users. The Allied Goal is to kill 3,000,000 Banshees — possibly the single toughest enemy unit of the Reaper forces in single player or multiplayer. The Squad Goal is to survive until a full extraction against any enemy on Gold difficulty.

If the Allied Goal is completed, all users will receive a Victory Pack. All squadmates who complete the Squad Goal will receive a Commendation Pack.

BioWare is aware of an issue that PS3 users aren’t seeing the promotion screen, but they still will be participating in the Operation and will still receive the above-listed benefits for participation if they have their “Upload Gameplay Feedback” option set to “On” in the online options menu.

Finally, an interesting statement in the announcement:

This task is an onerous one, and many of you are right to dread contact with these particular foes, but rest assured that we are prepared to reinforce your battalion with reserves. The vorcha want in, and as soon as they complete combined-arms training with our technically-skilled personnel, we will let them loose.

Could BioWare be teasing vorcha as the next playable race in ME3‘s MP? BioWare has made no announcements concerning future playable races, but the Batarians and Geth recently did join the available playable races in the last released DLC, so more races are a possibility (at least in theory).
