The fourth installment in DICE’s popular shooter franchise has been prematurely revealed by Electronic Arts, as a recent advert indicates that those who pre-order Medal of Honor: Warfighter will receive access to the Battlefield 4 beta.
The advertisement for the promotion was first spotted by Digital Spy, who managed to capture an image of the ad before it was promptly taken down. It looks like a little miscommunication over at EA lead the advert appearing on the publisher’s Origin store.
In addition, a Tweet from the official Battlefield Twitter account (via VG247) said: “Battlefield 4? If it isn’t on Battlefield.com, it isn’t official!” As you’d expect, the message has since been removed from the account.
I don’t think anyone doubted the fact that Battlefield 4 would be on the horizon, but the fact that we still have yet to receive word from EA on another entry in the Bad Company series leads us to wonder whether or not we’ll ever see a third installment.
