The PlayStation 3 sure has selling power in the UK, as sales for the console have now surpassed 5 million in the region.
According to a report from MCV, Sony’s Fergal Gara shared the exciting news, saying, “It is fantastic that we passed the 5m mark. But most importantly to me is not the milestone itself, but the fact that there is momentum behind it. And with the new chassis, and the way the market is panning out this year, PlayStation definitely has the momentum.”
Thanks to the launch of the super-slim model of the PlayStation 3, sales in the UK saw an increase of 138%. As we head into the holiday season, there’s no doubt that company’s strong momentum will continue, so long as the Wii U doesn’t rain down on their parade.
What kind of impact will the Wii U have on PS3 sales this holiday season? Should Sony be worried? Let us know in the comments below.
