BioWare Montreal Asks Fans: Should ME4 be a Prequel or Sequel?

The next installment in the Mass Effect series is currently in the very early stages of development at BioWare Montreal — so early in fact that they haven’t decided whether to make the game a sequel or prequel, and they’re turning to their fans for advice.

BioWare’s Casey Hudson posted the following on Twitter: “Parsing through your thoughts on the next #ME game. Would you be more interested in a game that takes place before the trilogy, or after?”

The studio has already made it clear that they’re taking a very different approach to this new Mass Effect game. In fact, the game won’t star Commander Shepard or any protagonist like him/her. It was also confirmed just the other week that the game will be built on EA’s Frostbite 2 engine.

So what do you think? Should BioWare Montreal flesh out the Mass Effect universe before the events of the original trilogy, or pick up where ME3 ended? Let us know in the comments below.
