You Can Play the PlayStation 4 Offline, Internet Connection Not a Requirement

Sony laid any fears to rest today about the PlayStation 4 requiring a constant internet connection (like Destiny does), with Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony Worldwide Studios, telling Eurogamer:

You can play offline, but you may want to keep it connected. The system has the low-power mode – I don’t know the official term – that the main system is shut down but the subsystem is awake. Downloading or updating or you can wake it up using either the tablet, smartphone or PS Vita.

So, those of you who don’t have internet or have a spotty internet connection, you can now rest assured that the PlayStation 4 works offline, but the overall PS4 experience is going to be vastly improved when you’re online.

Are you glad that the PS4 doesn’t require an internet connection? Or are you always connected and this doesn’t matter? Let us know in the comments below.
