Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Beta Phase 2 Now Open to all PS4 Owners

With the official launch of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on PS4 just 10 days away on April 14th, Square Enix has launched Beta Phase 2 for the game, which is an open beta to all PS4 owners that runs from now until 1AM PT on Monday, April 7th.

Using the live game servers, Phase 2 allows you to join other PC and PS3 players, using existing characters in the Beta. New characters and player progress created during made during Phase 2 can then be transferred to the full game when it launches on the 14th. If you want to play A Realm Reborn early, pre-ordering the Standard or Collector’s Edition will allow you to start playing on Friday, April 11th.

Here’s how you can start enjoying the open beta:

  1. On your PS4, go to the PlayStation Store and download Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (Beta Version). Once the download is complete, the installation will begin automatically.
  2. Start Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (Beta Version) from the home screen.
  3. Log in using (or create one for free) a Square Enix account and follow the on-screen instructions to start the game.

Square Enix also noticed an issue where people who downloaded the beta client between April 1st and 3rd are unable to log into the game properly. If this is something you’ve experienced, follow these steps:

  1. Log into the Sony Entertainment Network account that you used to download the Beta Test software.
  2. On the PlayStation 4 home screen, navigate to PlayStation Store and launch it.
  3. On the menu, select “Games” > “New” > “New This Month” and navigate to the “Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn” content and select it.
  4. Select “Add to Cart” and “Proceed to Checkout” and finally “Confirm Purchase”.
  5. To confirm the issue has been resolved, simply navigate to the “Settings” menu on the PlayStation 4 home screen, select PSN > Account Information > Services List > and select “Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn” where it should display “Open Beta 2 Entitlement” if the issue has been resolved.
