Hideo Kojima’s playable teaser for Silent Hills — P.T. — has more than its fair share of Easter Eggs. Possibly one of the biggest is the radio transmissions being broadcast in-game. If you can understand Swedish, it most likely won’t be a mystery to you. But for those who can’t, you can read the entire transmission below — which reveals something that should be familiar to Silent Hill fans.
Close your eyes. Let your ears listen in to the radio. Do you hear my voice? Can you hear the screams of your own soul?
Let us choose: my voice, which tells the future, or your tormented [struggles?]. Well? What do you choose? You can choose. Your life. Your future!
Wise as you are, you may already have noticed. As the radio drama from 75 years ago was the truth. They are here, on our Earth. And they oversee and see all. Don’t trust the news. Don’t trust the police. They are already controlled by them.
So has it been for 75 years now. Only [our master?] can keep them [at bay]. You have a right. A right to become one of us. So welcome to our world. Very soon, the gates to a new dimension will open.
The recording of this in-game transmission can be viewed above, and points to aliens once again being involved in Silent Hills. In case you didn’t know, past Silent Hill games had a secret ending that shows the game protagonist confront little grey aliens. According to Polygon, the 75-year old radio drama most likely points to Orson Welles’ adaptation of The War of the Worlds, which warned listeners to an alien invasion in the form of news bulletins that some thought were real (at the time).
Should we expect aliens in Silent Hills? Based on the hints Kojima has dropped so far, I wouldn’t bet against it.
Are you OK with this little nugget of info or should Silent Hills just be focused on horror and leave the sci-fi stuff to another game?
