Paul McCartney Destiny Theme Music Was Made for “the Creativity,” No Money Involved

Destiny 1

Just yesterday, we posted a video of Destiny’s ending theme music that was written by none other than music legend, Paul McCartney.

While some might assume that the ex-Beatles’ involvement added a hefty sum to Destiny’s reported $500 million budget, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Speaking to Vulture, Bungie Community Manager Eric Osborne confirmed that McCartney worked on the Destiny theme for free.

There was no check involved, big or otherwise. He’s in it for the creativity. He got a wonderful opportunity to reach an audience that wouldn’t typically be immersed in Paul McCartney. They might hear the name — of course he’s everywhere, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Olympics, obviously he’s touring and recording nonstop — but he sees it as a way to reach a new audience that might not otherwise hear his music.

Yep, McCartney just added a ton of awesome points to his skill tree, if I must say. And the fact that he’s open-minded enough that he wants gamers to listen to his music is admirable, too.

Have you listened to McCartney’s ending theme What do you make of it so far?
