Just yesterday, we reported that Bungie has made quite some changes to how Xur – Agent of the Nine deals his weekly set of Exotic items in Destiny.
One of the big new additions is the “Three of Coins,” which according to Bungie, “which gives bosses a chance to drop Exotic Engrams, including Weapon Engrams. These consumables have a cumulative luck effect, so even if one doesn’t net you a drop, the next one has a higher chance to do so.“
With Xur selling the Three of Coins now, it didn’t take long for the hardcore Destiny players to find an exploit, and find they did! Over on the Destiny subreddit, user Parkwaydrive23 outlined a super efficient Destiny Exotic farming method — and we can confirm that it works!
Here’s the method:
I’ve been farming Scourge of Winter story boss. Get the checkpoint outside his chamber. Pop coin, snipe boss low, run in and rocket suicide to kill him. If he dropped loot, it’ll still be there. Rinse and repeat. Within 15 coins, I’ve gotten 3 chest exotics.
Edit. 25 coins, 4 exotic engrams. Roughly half hour of work.
Edit #2 – More specific.
Mission – Scourge of Winter (Difficult doesn’t matter)
Pop coin.
Snipe boss low, or shoot him, whatever works for you.
Go in and kill him and yourself with a rocket launcher. Any loot will carry over after you revive at the checkpoint.
Rinse and repeat while collecting any loot drops from the previous kill.
Only use one coin at a time, the buff goes away regardless of you getting a drop or not.
If that’s unclear to you, go to the Scourge of Winter story boss, and once you get to the checkpoint outside his lair, pop the Three of Coins item, get him to super low health, and then once he’s within one rocket of dying, get near him and kill him and you at the same time with one rocket. You’ll die and respawn outside again. And voila! That’s your easy method for Destiny Exotic farming — at least until Bungie deploys a patch. Be careful, though. If you mess up (as in kill him), you’ll have to do the entire thing all over again.
Anyone trying this now? I’ll be doing it but strictly for, erm, journalistic purposes. Let us know what items you get.

Bounty Changes
Bounties have always been an awesome idea, but it was always cumbersome having to turn them in at the Crucible. Now you don't have to. Bounties can now be turned in straight from the menu. Throw in the new ability to track the progress of four bounties during gameplay, and it becomes apparent how much better the bounty system is.

Finally Enough Content
There is no excusing the lack of content in Destiny's original package. There just wasn't enough missions. Now with the three expansions, there is finally enough content to keep gamers busy for a long, long time.

It's a Great Value
If you purchase the physical edition of Destiny: The Taken King, you are getting a great value. It includes the base game, House of Wolves, The Dark Below, and The Taken King. That is $80 worth of DLC AND the base game.

Legendary Marks
Vanguard and Crucible Marks are no more. Destiny's confusing currency system is gone, as there is now only one currency to care about - Legendary Marks. This simplified system makes the game much less confusing and even more accessible.

Levelling Up Finally Makes Sense
Screw trying to find gear with a high amount of Light, now shooting enemies will level you up past level 20. This is the way how levelling up should have worked the entire time.
-
Additional Vault Space
There is a lot of cool gear and weapon to collect in Destiny, which is why it was so frustrating to have such limited vault space! Thankfully, vault space has been doubled, so you'll have all the space you need to keep your exotic weapons!
-
New Voice-over
The reaction to Peter Dinklage's voice-over as the Ghost was mixed, to say the least. To make sure the character has a consistent voice throughout every piece of content, Bungie has recast the character with Nolan North. We're fans of North's work, and he does great work in Destiny.
-
Quest Lines!
There wasn't much story in Destiny, but there was an intriguing world to explore. In The Taken King, Bungie has added quest lines. These quests should tell a much better narrative than what was in the base line, which isn't hard considering how there wasn't much of one!
-
You Can Skip Cutscenes
There is really no good reason that this wasn't included in the base game, but finally players can skip cutscenes. No longer do you have to sit through the same scene repeatedly when replaying missions. This is one case where it is better late than never!
