Have Fans Discovered the Protagonist for Mass Effect: Andromeda?

With BioWare confirming that Mass Effect: Andromeda will introduce a new protagonist, have Mass Effect fans discovered the identity of who you’ll play as in the franchise’s latest installment?

Eagle-eyed fans have dissected the N7 Day Mass Effect: Andromeda teaser, and saw something that could lead to the identity of Andromeda’s protagonist or just BioWare teasing its fans.

About 0:44 seconds in the trailer, a dog tag can be spotted bearing the name “Rider” or “Ryder.” According to Reddit user Benelioto who spotted the dog tag, the name might be referencing Sally Ride, who’s the first American woman in space. In case you didn’t know, the trilogy’s hero — Commander Shepard — was named after the first man in space, Alan Shepard.

Additionally, music fans might have also noticed that Johnny Cash’s Ghost Riders in the Sky was used in the N7 Day teaser. While BioWare hasn’t commented on why this exact track was used, Studio Director Yanick Roy did acknowledge that there are “very good reasons” for choosing that song.

As a big Mass Effect fan, I honestly can’t wait to learn more about BioWare’s upcoming sci-fi RPG. Let’s hope BioWare’s tease that they have something to announce later this year comes to fruition soon.
