In its first 24 hours on the market, The Division sold through more copies than any previous title in Ubisoft history, based on internal estimates, the company announced today.
Not only that, but The Division also set a Ubisoft record for total digital full game sales in a single day across all platforms.
With the success of The Division, Ubisoft also announced that they have three of the top four most successful new game brand launches in the history of the industry, alongside Watch Dogs and Assassin’s Creed. As they revealed last month, Destiny holds the #1 spot in that category.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said:
The launch of The Division is a tremendous achievement for Ubisoft, and demonstrates our unrivalled capacity to create fantastic new game brands and transform them into entertainment blockbusters. This is a momentous day for Ubisoft, but more importantly it marks the start of millions of players’ enduring engagement in The Division’s game world, which we are confident they will love.
Ubisoft Massive Managing Director David Polfeldt added:
We’re extremely happy with The Division’s record-breaking launch. The Division really represents Ubisoft at its best, with the Massive team and all the teams at our associate studios working at maximum capacity in highly-productive collaboration to deliver an incredibly innovative and entertaining new game.
