Bungie Details Destiny’s Spring Update, Light Level Will Increase to 335

Pegged to arrive on April 12, Bungie has peeled back the curtain on Destiny‘s spring update, bringing with it new challenges, an increased Light level and a new reason to venture into the Prison of Elders.

Upping the max Light level to 335, the developer revealed that Guardians will be able to hit the new level cap via Challenge of the Elders, a new level 41 PVE mode. Bungie cautions that players below Light level 260 need not apply, though enemies will also drop engrams.

Set to take place within “the battered remnants” of the Reef, Ryan Paradis, Lead Designer at Bungie, touched base on some of the core elements included in next month’s update.

Per Game Informer:

Our goal with the April update was to hit a few different fronts. We have a lot of fans who fell in love with exploration on the Dreadnaught, with our Strikes, and with the Prison of Elders, but they’ve moved past them. We wanted to revitalize some of these favorites, and at the same time provide new challenges and rewards. As the Live team has done in the past, we wanted to provide awesome new vanity items for players to both express themselves better, and to look like the badasses they truly are.

Oryx may be no more, but the fractured Taken army still poses a major threat. In terms of the story included in the April update, Paradis asked Guardians to expect “a small continuation of the Taken King storyline, and dovetail into our new Strike and Prison of Elders content.”

Destiny‘s spring update is set to go live on April 12.
