Update: Bungie Help says, “This maintenance is now complete. Thank you for your patience!”
Bungie has announced that they’ll be taking Destiny offline today, June 28, for roughly five hours of planned maintenance.
Beginning at 8am PT/11am ET, you’ll be unable to log into Destiny in preparation for the maintenance. Then, at 9am PT/12pm ET, the maintenance will begin and is expected to end around 2pm PT/5pm ET.
Here’s what Bungie says about the maintenance:
- Starting at 8:00 AM Pacific (3:00 PM UTC), players will not be able to log into Destiny in preparation for maintenance.
- At 9:00 AM Pacific (4:00 PM UTC), players will be removed from activities as Destiny servers will be taken offline for maintenance.
- Maintenance is expected to conclude before 2:00 PM Pacific (9:00 PM UTC).
- Bungie.net sign-in and Companion app services may be restricted during this time.
- Players signed in shortly before maintenance will receive prior notice via in-game messaging.
- Once maintenance is concluded, all services and Destiny login functionality will be restored.
Additionally, Bungie’s Help forum is saying a patch will be released today (likely a hot fix). “Players will be returned to the title screen from their activities and then be required to log in to Destiny again after installing the patch,” they add.
On Twitter, Bungie explained that Iron Banner will be available once the maintenance is complete.
Since only about 10% of all Destiny players are on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Bungie detailed some changes coming to last-gen consoles very soon, which includes limited access to upcoming updates and content.

Akiba's Beat
Cameron Teague
It's amazing to see just how much Beat has improved over what I felt was a lackluster experience in Akiba's Trip. The combat system has decided to use the Tales of formula, the world looks great, and it just looks/plays like a totally different and amazing game. It really wowed me, and I went in expecting NOTHING.

Batman VR
Chandler Wood
VR is meant to immerse players in the experience, to make them feel as if they are actually present rather than just watching something on a screen. Rocksteady decided to use this unique medium to create a unique experience, giving players a chance to wear the cowl and become Batman. It was hands down the best VR experience that I have ever had, and if I wasn't sold on VR before (spoiler alert: I was), this would be the experience that would put me over edge. As it is, this will be the thing that I show to anyone who comes to my house and wants a taste of VR themselves later this year.

Horizon: Zero Dawn
Jowi Meli
I played a ton of demos at E3 this year, but Horizon: Zero Dawn’s was the only one I really wanted to play again right after I finished. With highly technical combat that rewards you for building sound strategies, and a large open world that seems bursting with things to discover, this is one I can’t wait to get my hands on.

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game
Keri Honea
I never played a game of Gwent in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, as I only played the game for a few hours and in that time, I picked herbs and completed maybe two side quests. I’d heard from so many people that Gwent was the reason why they never finished The Witcher 3, and after playing the game myself at E3, I now understand why. It’s one of those easy-to-learn, difficult-to-master games that will hook you as soon as you grasp how the the gameplay works. As I need this game in my life now, I’m sorely tempted to fire up The Witcher 3 again solely in the name of playing Gwent.

Resident Evil 7 VR
PMC
Resident Evil 7 made a loud entrance and Sony’s E3 press conference this year. While having a new entry in this long-running series would be news enough, the whole game would be in first-person. If that wasn’t enough, it was also announced to be compatible with the PlayStation VR headset. The audience in attendance just about lost their minds. After having played it, I am very excited for the prospect of being frightened in a whole new way.
