Epic Games CEO “Thrilled” About PS4 Neo and Xbox Scorpio, Says It’s the Best of Both Worlds

Epic Games’ CEO, Tim Sweeney, has said that he’s “absolutely thrilled” about the idea of PlayStation 4 Neo and Microsoft’s Xbox Scorpio project, calling the upgraded hardware “the best of both worlds.” In an interview with Eurogamer, Sweeney said that he thinks the configurations for developers are “very reasonable” and that consoles will “remain in balance.” He continued:

From an industry insider perspective, the console industry will grow and sustain its user base much better if it doesn’t have to reset its user base to zero every seven years. The idea of throwing everything out and doing everything from scratch every seven years is completely crazy. And everything Epic’s done with our new game development approach, involving these online games we’re going to maintain over time, it’s about building games where we don’t have to reset our user base to zero when we want to add new features.

Sweeney isn’t the only one who’s thrilled either. Several publishers including EA and Ubisoft have recently expressed their excitement about the prospect of PS4 Neo and Xbox Scorpio.

While Microsoft has unveiled Project Scorpio, Sony has yet to provide further details about PS4 Neo. Several reports indicate that the company will unveil its new hardware later this year, however.
