Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare to Have 12 Maps at Launch, Quickscoping Still Possible

If you’re planning on getting Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare later this year and wondered how many multiplayer maps will be available at launch, wonder no more. Speaking to Infinity Ward Multiplayer Project Director Jordan Hirsch, he confirmed to us that the game will ship with 12 multiplayer maps at launch, with one (Terminal) as a special pre-order bonus.

PSLS: How many maps are you going to launch with?

Jordan: That’s funny, I was just asked this, and I don’t actually know for sure! I believe it’s 12 maps plus a pre-order bonus.

For reference, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 had the same number of maps at launch (excluding the pre-order bonus), while Advanced Warfare had 13, with Ghosts having the most so far this gen with 14 (all not counting the pre-order bonus maps).

In the same interview, we asked Hirsch if “quickscoping” is possible in Infinite Warfare. Now, for those not familiar with the term, it’s using a sniper rifle and then scoping in quickly and killing someone at various ranges that makes it seem more like a shotgun than an actual sniper rifle.

PSLS: How difficult is sniping (in these modes)? Can players quickscope?

Jordan: Quickscoping is possible. I wouldn’t say it’s easy! Most of the sniper rifles are balanced to be a difficult one-shot kill. So you have to get a headshot in order to get that one-shot kill, (especially) quickscope. So it is a possibility.

As someone who isn’t a fan of quickscoping, I hope it’s at least balanced well enough that it won’t break the game. Either that or maybe I just need to “git gud,” no? Hopefully, we’ll see how balanced or unbalanced quickscoping is when the Infinite Warfare beta hits next month.

Stay tuned to our complete interview with Infinity Ward set to hit the site later this week.
