New Assassin’s Creed Trailer and Poster Order Michael Fassbender to the Spanish Inquisition

Michael Fassbender plots course for the Spanish Inquisition in today’s thrilling new trailer for Assassin’s Creed, the video game adaptation in the works from Snowtown and Macbeth director Justin Kurzel.

Slipping into the shoes of Callum Lynch and his long-forgotten ancestor, Aguilar de Nerha, Assassin’s Creed presents Fassbender with a fascinating dual role, as his characters comes to terms with the clandestine operation at the heart of the story. Perhaps more so than any trailer before, this snippet draws attention to the incredible stuntwork on display in Kurzel’s live-action feature. Clocking in at a neat two hours in length, the official synopsis can be found below.

Through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Callum discovers he is descended from a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organization in the present day.

Assassin’s Creed, also starring Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson, Ariane Labed, and Callum Turner, is slated to open on December 21. Those in the UK can expect Justin Kurzel’s historical actioner to grace theaters on January 6.
