RIGS Mechanized Combat League Update 1.04 Today Includes PS4 Pro Support

Adding PlayStation 4 Pro support, relaunch protection, an overdrive mechanic, and plenty of fixes to the PlayStation VR game, RIGS Mechanized Combat League update 1.04 was released today by developer Guerrilla Games.

Although the PS4 Pro support is now available, Guerrilla says in the patch notes that they won’t give out further details until we get closer to the Pro’s launch later this week on November 10:

New Features

  • PlayStation 4 Pro Support – We’ll explain this in more detail in the coming week.
  • Relaunch Protection – Relaunch points are no longer selectable if they haven’t been vacated by the previous players that relaunched there.
  • Overdrive Mechanic – Overdrive now resets when the match goes into overtime, to prevent the overtime period from starting with an unfair advantage for some players.
  • Division Playbook – A tutorial explaining the ruleset for Division has been added.

Guerrilla adds, “We’ll continue to work on further enhancements to RIGS Mechanized Combat League based on your comments, including a streamlined matchmaking experience.”

If you own PSVR and a 4K TV, and are planning on buying a PS4 Pro, Sony says, “If you’re playing a normal, non-VR game on your PS4 Pro, PSVR’s Processor Unit will output a 4K signal to a 4K TV — but in the YUV420 format only. The Processor Unit does not support HDR pass-through, so you will need to plug your PS4 Pro directly into your TV (bypassing the Processor Unit) to view HDR content.”

In our review of RIGS, we said, “RIGS: Mechanized Combat League is a feather in the cap of PlayStation VR as a virtual reality experience, proving undoubtedly that fast paced, full motion games can be successfully portrayed in a VR environment.
