When NBA 2K18 launches on September 19, Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving will be on the cover, 2K announced today. It’s Irving’s first appearance on the cover of an NBA 2K game. He previously appeared on the cover of NBA Live 14.
It is well known that I’m an avid player of this series and I am honored to be the cover athlete of NBA 2K18. It’s surreal to be featured on the cover and I can’t wait to dominate on the virtual court with all of my fans this fall.
Alfie Brody, VP of Marketing for NBA 2K, added:
It’s obvious that Kyrie isn’t disappearing from the spotlight anytime soon, so we’re thrilled to have him as our cover athlete, alongside Shaq for the NBA 2K18 Legend Edition. He’s a more-than-worthy recipient of this honor, and joins so many other greats who were cover athletes before him.
Game 1 of the NBA Finals is tonight, and a simulation by NBA 2K17 says the Warriors will defeat the Cavaliers in seven games.
2K adds that NBA 2K17 has sold nearly nine million copies, and it’s “currently the highest-rated and highest-revenue generating sports title in North America.”
NBA 2K18 will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch, and PC, and pre-ordering in North America gets you early access on September 15 as well as a Kyrie Outfit Pack and more.
