Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice – Everything You Need to Know

Even by 2017’s own lofty standards, the month of August is crammed with big-name releases. From Uncharted: The Lost Legacy to Matterfall, Hellblade to Madden NFL 18, the next four weeks will see our attention (and wallets!) pushed and pulled in nine different directions, and we couldn’t be more excited.

And though Naughty Dog’s standalone expansion will no doubt steal all the headlines on August 22, for the purpose of this info dump, we’ll be placing the spotlight on Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Ninja Theory’s prescient parable on mental health that’s masquerading as a super-stylish hack-and-slash title.

You play as Senua, a Celtic warrior crippled by psychosis who journeys through myth and madness to fight for the soul of her dead lover. A haunting trip to Viking Hell is on the cards, then, and the fact that Ninja Theory consulted world-leading neuroscientists and a handful of those afflicted by mental health issues while crafting Hellblade only has us all the more intrigued.

So, you’re ready to journey through the fire and flames? Not so fast! In anticipation of its launch on August 8, we’ve scoured the four corners of the internet — and the PSLS archives — to compile all the necessary information you could ever need pertaining to Ninja Theory’s so-called “AAA indie.”

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice lights up PS4 and PC on August 8th. It’s far and away Ninja Theory’s most ambitious and indeed intimate project yet, but do you plan on picking up the studio’s latest IP at launch? Or are you more inclined to wait until those early reviews start pouring in before making an informed decision? I’ll see you in the comments section below.
