Square Enix to Continue Final Fantasy XV’s Development Over the Next Year to Strengthen Its Story

Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata has revealed that the game’s development will continue over the next year. The announcement was made during an Active Time Report at Tokyo Game Show 2017 (translation courtesy of Gematsu), in which Tabata said that the team made this decision in response to fans requests to strengthen the game’s story.

“Not only are we further investigating characters through additional episodes, if we don’t convey the setting that is the foundation of the world, we won’t be able to convey the characters’ way of life,” said Tabata while adding that he’s forming a team to accomplish the task.

Although we don’t have any further information about the planned content, we do know that Final Fantasy XV will be getting additional story content in its next free update. Tabata has also recently said that despite the project being successful for Square Enix from a business standpoint, the development team won’t rest until fans are happy with the story.

When those fans who were complaining about the story from the early days are now completely satisfied with the overall experience, that’s the moment when we can say as a team that we’re pleased with what we did for Final Fantasy XV.

Final Fantasy XV is currently available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
