Soulcalibur VI Adds New Character Azwel, Watch Him Destroy His Foes

Bandai Namco Entertainment has added newcomer Azwel to Soulcalibur VI‘s roster. A trailer showcasing the fighter in action was also released, which you can watch below.

The following character description accompanies the trailer:

You shall be sacrificed for the human race! Azwel, Leader of Humanity, wields the powerful weapon Palindrome which grants him the ability to manifest weapons out of thin air!

Developer Project Soul recently came under fire due to confusion surrounding fan-favorite Tira’s return. For those who don’t know, Tira will be a DLC-only character included in the game’s Season Pass, much to the disappointment of fans who thought she was included in the base roster. Producer Motohiro Okubo acknowledged that the team should have been more “careful” with the reveal but also noted that since preorders for the Season Pass went live recently, the developer wanted to reveal one of the characters tied to it. It all came down to timing.

That said, Soulcalibur VI cannot afford a lot of controversy because the series’ future depends on its sales. Okubo told DualShockers during gamescom 2018 that if Soulcalibur VI doesn’t do well, that’ll be the end of the franchise.

Soulcalibur VI is set to release on October 19 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
