Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania New Modes

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania New Dark Banana and Reverse Modes Detailed

The upcoming Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania remake releasing next month will feature some additional modes to spice up the gameplay, namely in the form of a Dark Banana Mode and Reverse Mode. Sega recently detailed some of the new modes in a recent Twitter post, highlighting some key gameplay mechanics as well as some photography and rendering features to make the game look even better.

Sega previously revealed the Golden Banana Mode, which tasks players with collecting golden bananas scattered throughout each level. Collect them all, and you unlock a Golden AiAi. Though players will have to rack up in-game points to unlock the special Golden Banana Mode, they can also unlock it straight away by purchasing the Digital Deluxe Edition.

On the other side is the Dark Banana Mode, which conversely tasks players will avoiding dangerous Dark Bananas placed on each level—the perfect challenge for the professional Super Monkey Ball player (Ball-er?). Similarly, players can unlock this game mode for free while playing the game. Another interesting addition is Reverse mode which, as the name suggests, starts players at the level’s goal post rather than the starting line. During this mode, players must make their way through the level in the opposite direction, adding yet another layer of difficulty to those that may have already memorized each map’s layout.

Not up for a difficult time? No worries, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania also features a Helper Mode, which provides players with arrows for easy navigation and doubles the time given to complete the level. It also allows players to use an optional “Slow Motion” feature that— you guessed it—slows down the game. If you’re not particularly bothered with a certain level, you can even just decide to mark it as “Cleared” using in-game points.

Finally, there will be a photo mode with three different rendering filters to choose from. These are similarly unlocked through in-game points and include Monochrome, Sepia, and Toy filters.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania will release for the PS4 and PS5 on October 7, 2021. The game will include remastered versions of Super Monkey Ball 1, Super Monkey Ball 2, and Super Monkey Ball Deluxe, as well as customizable monkeys, 12 side game modes, and various accessibility options.
