An exclusive GTA 6 marketing deal for PS5 is all but confirmed following comments from a well-known journalist and insider. Fans had been suspecting as much, considering the game won’t launch on PC alongside consoles, and Microsoft is barely selling Xbox Series X|S units anymore.
GTA 6 is ‘kind of like’ a PS5 exclusive, says known insider
The insider in question is none other than Jason Schreier. In a recent podcast (around 09:55), Schreier says that GTA 6 is “kind of like” a PlayStation exclusive, with Xbox being a “non-factor.”
“I’m sure they’ll sell millions on Xbox, but PlayStation is the main platform, so it’s almost — in some ways — it’s kind of like a PlayStation Exclusive,” Schreier said (via Reddit). “Most of the sales will be on PlayStation, and it will sell a lot of PS5s alongside it, so I suspect that Sony is planning its entire calendar around GTA and will not release anything within the blast zone.”
Schreier expressed confidence that Marvel’s Wolverine will release sometime in September or October 2026. But whether GTA 6 will manage a 2026 release window or not remains to be seen.
It was previously reported that GTA 6 PS5/PS5 Pro bundles are highly likely, and PS5 exclusive marketing deals were reported as far back as September 2024. Schreier’s comments all but confirm that Sony and Rockstar Games will reach an agreement, if they haven’t yet.
