PlayStation Users Lose Access to Paid DLC for Popular PS4 Game

PlayStation users are reportedly locked out of paid content for a popular 2018 PS4 game that was recently relaunched. The original Surviving Mars and its DLC were delisted from all platforms to make way for Surviving Mars: Relaunched in 2025. Unfortunately, however, that has resulted in last-gen players with original copies being unable to re-download add-ons that they purchased.

Why PlayStation users are getting locked out of paid DLC for 2018 game Surviving Mars

The issue was first highlighted shortly after Surviving Mars: Relaunched replaced the original SKUs on the PS Store. Publisher Paradox Interactive acknowledged the problem, but there has been no resolution since.

It’s unclear whether the issue is on Paradox’s end or stems from the way the PS Store handled the delistings and new entries. Players who reached out to the publisher have found that the issue only occurs on the PS4, suggesting that Sony’s delisting of the DLC was done in a way that prevents those who wish to re-download the original content from doing so.

It is my understanding that this does not affect the base 2018 game, only its DLC. Still, it’s unacceptable for the issue to linger on for as long as this one has. For a company that’s all in on a digital-only future, there are far too many problems with the PlayStation Network, with no resolution in sight.
