Split/Second – Trophy Guide

Frequent Flyer (Bronze) In an event, wreck 3 rivals by crash landing a plane.

This can be completed on Airport Terminal.  First you’ll need to trigger a route changer by destroying the tower that then leads you onto the airstrip.  Try to do this on the first lap, so that you can build up more power by the time you make it back around.  Stay towards the back end of the pack when you near the strip, and gain enough power for a level 2 power play.  As long as you see 3 or more important opponents in front you, the plane should take them all out.

Swept Away (Bronze)In an event, wreck 3 rivals by destroying a dam.

This can be completed on Canyon by triggering a route changer when approaching the dam.  The dam appears early in the track, so you will most likely need to trigger it on the second lap.  Stay near the back of the pack with at least three opponents in sight, and it should destroy them all.

The Pain Train (Bronze) In an event, wreck 3 rivals by derailing a train.

This can be completed on Expressway by triggering a level 2 power play near the end of the track.  Again, stay near the back of the pack.  You might not be able to see all the opponents in front of you because of a bend in the track right before the train, but it has a large area of effect and it should not prove difficult to hit 3 or more enemies.

Shipwrecked (Bronze)In an event, wreck 3 rivals by launching a ship sideways across the track.

This can be completed on Port Bridge by triggering a level 2 power play on the long straight away with the large ship on the right hand side.  This may prove more difficult than the previous rival wrecking trophies because the ship has a small area of effect.  Good timing against a cluster of opponents will win this trophy for you.

High Pipe (Bronze) In an event, wreck 3 rivals by demolishing a cooling tower.

This can be completed on Power Plant by triggering a level 2 power play as your opponents take a shortcut under one of the two cooling towers.  Since there’s two of them you will have two opportunities per race to get it.  However, like the Shipwrecked trophy it has a small area of effect, and will require some good timing to obtain.

Heavyweight (Silver) Wreck 1000 rivals with Power Plays.

This may seem like a daunting number of wrecks, but if you’re going for all the other trophies in the game it should come easily over time.  Online and offline wrecks both count towards this total.  If you really need to try for it, just stay towards the back of the back and keep triggering as many power plays as you can.

High Five (Silver)Spend a total of five minutes airborne.

This trophy is rather simple and should be unlocked as you play.  Considering that its one of the ways to gain power in the game, there’s not as many jumps in the game as would be expected.  If you need to try to get it, go to Downtown Central and trigger the route changer at the end of the first lap.  This will lead you to four jumps in a row and will garner the most air time of any track.

Great Explorer (Silver)Trigger a total of 50 route changer Power Plays.

This is another simple trophy that will simply come as you play, but if you need to try go to The Airport Terminal and The Dry Docks, where you can trigger up to 3 route changers per race.

Going The Distance (Silver)Drive a total of 1,081 miles.

Just drive some more!  I completed this shortly after finishing the offline season and getting to rank 1 online.

The Time Is Right (Bronze)Win your first Season Detonator event.

Place first in any detonator event in the offline season.

Beat The Team (Silver)Beat 1 minute 7 seconds on Construction Site in Detonator.

This, and its partner trophy, are the hardest in the game to get.  Go to Construction Site in quick play on Detonator mode, and select your best car to do it.  The Elite GT12 is probably the best car to use, since it is the fastest (earned by getting first in all elite races) and the turns aren’t very sharp.  Try to avoid drifting, take corners smoothly, memorize the obstacles, and make sure you take the crucial alternate route about 30 seconds in by staying on the right hand side after the crane obstacle.  This will lead you up on to a rail line over the road, that you can leap off at the end into a parking garage.

Beat The Team II: The Revenge (Silver) Beat 1 minute 18 seconds on Power Plant in Detonator.

This trophy is very difficult to get, and will require patience and practice.  Go to Power Plant in quick play on Detonator mode, and select your best car to do it.  There are a lot of sharp turns on this course, so it is probably better to select a vehicle with good handling and acceleration for the task, such as the Hanzo FX350, instead of the GT12 which is likely to spin out too much.  There is no special shortcut to take here, so a good familiarity with the course and how your car of choice takes turns the fastest is your best friend for this task.

Keep On Truckin’ (Bronze)Win your first Season Survival event.

Place first in any survival event in the season.  Get a good chain of truck overtakes and this will come easily.

Convoy (Silver)Overtake 12 trucks in a row without crashing in a Survival event.

You will not be able to do this in the season, since a 12 truck chain gives you far more points than necessary to place first.  Either go to quick play in Survival mode to select your favorite track or go online to do this.  Offline is easier to do, since far less barrels are dropped by the trucks, and its easy to use the opponent vehicles as personal shields against the barrels.  While its great to go fast so you can pass the trucks, the real key here is having a vehicle that handles well to dodge the barrels, and doesn’t drift much unless you want it to.  My preference for this event is the Cobretti Pursuit, but some would prefer a truck that doesn’t get thrown around as much by the blue barrels.

Fearless (Bronze)Overtake 5 trucks in a row during Sudden Death in a Survival event.

Similar to Convoy, make sure you have your vehicle of preference and go to quick play to pick your favorite track.  Since there is a time limit to sudden death while online, this will be much easier to do offline.  This will probably take a few tries, but careful handling and using the opponent cars as shields will get you through it.

On The Run (Bronze)Win your first Season Air Strike event.

Place first in any Air Strike event.  Building up a chain of evasions in the first couple of waves is crucial to winning these, since it starts off easy and the difficulty ramps up very quickly.  A vehicle with good maneuverability is extremely valuable here.

Clear skies (Bronze)Win your first Season Air Revenge event.

Place first in any Air Revenge event.  These are extremely similar to the Air Strike events, but since you are trying to build power to take out the helicopter, a car that drifts easily but still handles well enough for evasion is important.  Build up to level 2 power plays quickly to deal the maximum damage possible by drifting around corners while the helicopter is reloading its missile strike.

Once, Twice, Three times Evasive (Bronze)Get three Perfect Waves in a row in either a Air Strike or Air Revenge event.

You should be trying to do this any way when you play these events.  This is most easily done through the first set of volleys from the helicopter, since it only fires 3 missiles to begin with and builds up from there as you progress.

Start Me Up (Bronze)Win an online event.

Place first in any online event. It is recommended, but not necessary, to complete the offline portion of the game first, since this will unlock the vehicles for use online, and using better vehicles will give the player a distinct advantage in online play.  There is a vehicle class filter if you choose otherwise that will allow you to select only racing against C or B class cars.

In Good Form (Bronze)Get an online form of 75 or better.

See “World Beater”.

Out Of Reach (Silver) Get an online form of 25 or better.

See “World Beater”.

World Beater (Gold)Get an online form of 1.

This trophy is far easier than it would first appear to be.  First off, as mentioned earlier, completing the Season Championship will be extremely helpful since that unlocks the best cars in the game.  Also, a lot of players online seem to miss the class filter, so its relatively easy to find a lobby of people using slower cars if necessary.  You will start off with an online form of 99.  Every time you finish an event your form will increase if you place in the top half of the contenders, and it will decrease if you are in the bottom half.  The amount of which is proportional to the number of players, so you can increase rank most quickly by being in full lobbies (8 players), and placing first in the event.  If winning races against other players using the Elite GT12 is proving difficult, try ranking up in survival mode.  I found it surprisingly easy to rack up a great combo and place 1st or 2nd consistently without even having the best cars unlocked yet.

Giant Killer (Silver) Beat an opponent with an online form of 10 or better.

Generally an opponent with this online form already has the best cars – so you should too.  Follow the advice in “World Beater”.  Also, in survival mode a fast car is not a guaranteed win, so it may be easiest to pull this off there if you haven’t unlocked the best cars yet.

Team BlackRock (Bronze) Beat a member of the development team or someone who has beaten them.

This is a viral trophy, and can only be obtained by continuing to play online and winning.
