Shadow of the Colossus and ICO HD Trailers Ride In

We’ve been patiently waiting for the re-polished HD versions of the PS2 classics Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, and while we still have a bit to wait, we can drool over these new trailers.

With the slew of HD remakes making their way to the PS3, a collection from Team Ico’s work was pretty much a no brainer. Ico and Shadow of the Colossus were critically acclaimed for their stellar graphics upon release, as well as a unique visual design, and a minimalist fashion of story telling. The resulting games are often a hot topic when the concept of video games as art is brought up, and so it only seems fair to give those who missed out a chance to experience them, as well as allowing fans to see them in full HD and 3D glory. While these trailers aren’t in 3D, we can get a good taste of the HD touch up, and it looks like it’s been worth the wait.

Unfortunately, we’re still waiting on an official release date, and still only have the vague time frame of Q4 2011 to go on. Hopefully the collection will be out in time for the holidays, and although the Q4 line up is looking pretty packed, this should make for a great gift for any gamer in the family. Hopefully by then we’ll hear more from Team Ico about their new game The Last Guardian, which was mysteriously absent from E3 this year. We’ll certainly be hungry for it after playing Ico and SotC again.
