Insomniac Strategizes With Resistance ‘Global’ Free-to-Play

July 25, 2011 Written by Anthony Severino

Free-to-play, browser-based games are heating up the video game industry. And some of the PlayStation 3′s top developers–like PixelJunk devs, Q-Games–are taking notice, and bringing their franchises to the world wide web. This time, it’s Insomniac with a new free-to-play online strategy game called Global Resistance.

At San Diego Comic Con, Insomniac revealed Global Resistance, a free-to-play, strategy game that’s playable at www.myresistance.net/global. This isn’t quite a separate venture from the main Resistance series on the PS3, like what is happening with PixelJunk Monsters. Instead, Global Resistance will compliment Resistance 3, by allowing you to unlock skins and XP boosters. Check the description below:

Global Resistance is a free-to-play online strategy game set against mankind’s final stand in the Resistance Universe. Enlist as a Chimera or Human commander and take over the world to unlock exclusive Resistance 3 multiplayer skins, in-game titles and XP boosters. Customize your base, build and deploy your personal arsenal alongside thousands of other players, or attack on your rivals directly in head-to-head skirmishes. Will you join the Resistance… or crush it?

The game is already live at MyResistance.net. Check it out by signing in with your Facebook account, and soon your PSN account. For now, check out this trailer of Global Resistance.
