The new trailer released today for Final Fantasy XIII-2 shows the wide variety of gameplay options available to players in the upcoming RPG.
The first part of the trailer shows the Puzzle Sections of the game. Noel, Serah, and Mog are standing in a puzzle board area. Serah is shown connecting crystals in the shape of a constellation, Mog creating some kind of cloud (which seems to be a type of assistance of some sort), and then Serah jumping back and forth in a clock puzzle. The next part shows Captain Cryptic’s Confounding Quiz, which is a FFXIII-2 trivia game. The trailer mentions that players can accept sidequests for bonuses and Noel is then shown accepting a sidequest to defeat a monster. He’s shown executing a preemptive strike and then fighting the monster. The final part of the trailer shows the casino, where chocobos can be raced to win money or items and slot machines can be played to win coins.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be released for PS3 and Xbox 360 on January 31, 2012.
