Director Neil Burger Leaves Uncharted Film, National Treasure Writers Now Working on Script

Neil Burger, the director behind the film Limitless was set to direct the Uncharted movie. Apparently, that is no longer the case, as Burger has officially left the project.

This isn’t the first time that the movie has switched hands, as David O. Russell was initially supposed be behind this game-to-film adaptation.

Along with this news, Variety is reporting that National Treasure writers Marianne and Cormac Wibberley will be rewriting the script. Apparently there’s no plan to move forward on finding a new director until the writers have completed their work.

Aside from National Treasure, the Wibberleys were also behind the script for Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. Make of that what you will, but all of these speed bumps and leadership changes certainly don’t bode well for the future of this movie.

Do we really need a movie tied to Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series? After all, the games themselves do a great job of presenting compelling stories. Sound off with your thoughts in the comments below.
