DUST 514 Enters Open Beta January 22nd

CCP Games has announced that on January 22nd the free-to-play, massively-multiplayer, PS3-exclusive, first-person-shooter, hyphen-overkill title DUST 514 will move into open beta, becoming available to anyone with an online-connected PS3 for free.

The announcement comes after DUST was merged with EVE Online on the Tranquility server, creating a shared universe between the PS3 shooter and the PC space combat simulator.

Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP, spoke about the open beta:

The launch of the DUST 514 Open Beta is another step towards our long-term vision for CCP and EVE. But this is just the beginning. As we have done with EVE Online, in the coming weeks, and for years to come, we will continually improve upon and add to the DUST 514 experience, as well as add deeper integration between the two games and their communities.

The closed beta for DUST 514 has been running for quite a while now, available to EVE players and PlayStation Plus subscribers. No further character resets are planned, so if you’ve been playing, your kill/death ratio finally means something.
