Take-Two Nabs WWE Game Publishing Rights

After THQ sadly collapsed, it was heavily rumored that Take-Two had acquired the rights to distribute WWE games, with developer Yuke’s still at the helm. Take-Two has now confirmed the rumor.

The publisher told IGN:

We can confirm that we have entered into an agreement to publish the WWE video game series that is developed by Yuke’s. At this time, the agreement is pending court approval and we anticipate that it will be finalized shortly. We are very excited about the potential of this agreement and will have more to share at the appropriate time.

Take-Two will hire THQ’s employees that worked on the wrestling games, court documents have revealed.

The GTA publisher won’t actually own the rights to the WWE game franchise, rather the rights to publish them, which is why the WWE series wasn’t a part of the THQ auction.
