“Crytek Will be Bidding” for the Darksiders IP When it Goes to Auction on April 1st

Starting on April 1st, where initial bids must be in, with final bids being accepted by April 15th, the remainder of THQ’s intellectual properties (IP) are going to be sold off via auction.

The most notable franchises among these include Red Faction, Homeworld, MX, uDrawJuiced, Full Spectrum Warrior, Destroy All Humans!, and Darksiders. For the latter, David Adams, CEO of Crytek USA (formed from many ex-Vigil staff), and former GM and Co-Owner of Vigil, posted on Twitter that they’re “going to bid on Darksiders IP. Put 7 years of heart and soul into that franchise, and I think it belongs at home with its creators” and “looking to buy Darksiders IP back from #THQ. The IP belongs in the hands of its creators.”

Since those tweets did come from an unverified account, which has barely been used, they didn’t seem to carry much weight. Today, though, Destructoid talked to Ryan Stefanelli, Co-Founder of Vigil, where he said that, “When the Darksiders IP goes up for auction, Crytek will be bidding for it. Not much more to say since the rest is left up to courts and legal shenanigans, but we’re all excited at the prospect.”

Whether or not their bid will be enough is something we’ll just have to wait until mid-April to find out.

Do you think Crytek is going to get the Darksiders IP? How much do you think the uDraw IP will go for? Let us know in the comments below.
