General News

  • Starting at 1PM PT/4PM ET on June 9th, EA will be hosting a livestream of Battlefield: Hardline’s multiplayer over on Twitch. Taking place in an “undisclosed location in downtown Los Angeles, the Battlefield: Hardline livestream will feature 32 selected players going head-to-head in all-out multiplayer mayhem.” EA’s E3 2014 press conference starts one hour prior at 12PM PT.   • Sony Online Entertainment has announced that, thanks to working with PlayStation, patch sizes on DC Universe Online will be reduced beginning with Game Update 37. They offered up this explanation about download messaging: “When patching, you will continue to see the “full” patch size that someone who has never patched would need to download. However, after a few minutes, your system will identify what you have already downloaded and what still need to download, and only download what is needed. For example, for Game Update 37 today, your system will start your download process showing about 7gb out of 8.8gb, only downloading about 1.8gb in total (assuming you have already downloaded Game Update 36).” [Sony Forums]
  • According to a simulation done with the EA Sports football engine, Germany will defeat Brazil 2-1 in extra-time in the World Cup finals. [Press Release]
  • Z-Run from Beatshapers will be out for PlayStation Vita on June 18th in Europe and June 24th in North America. [Press Release]
  • As part of a new report from IHS Technology, there was roughly 2.4 billion hours of eSports videos watched during 2013. Comparing it to the 1.3 billion in 2012, it’s a huge jump. [Gamasutra]
  • Ahead of E3 next week, the European PlayStation Store has discounted many games. [Check Them Out]

  • Finally telling us about which PlayStation systems it will appear on, Double Fine confirmed that Costume Quest 2 will be available on PS4 and PS3. [Twitter]
