Game Director Reaffirms Final Fantasy XV 2016 Release Window in New Year’s Message

In a New Year’s message from Final Fantasy XV Game Director Hajime Tabata, he reaffirmed that “we will finally release FFXV this year, in 2016!”

Tabata continued by talking about how the final phase of development will focus on effort and willpower:

We will finally release FFXV this year, in 2016! In development, previous phases required wisdom and strength. However, moving forward the final phase will focus on effort and willpower.

I vow to you all that every member in the team will do their best to the very last possible moment taking responsibility and pride in their craft.

We will do everything we can do to finish FFXV to create an experience we are incredibly proud of and one that you will enjoy and treasure.

The next Active Time Report later this month will focus on the enemies of Final Fantasy XV, with Square Enix also set to share more information on the March event where we’ll learn FFXV’s release date.

As for the potential DLC Tabata mentioned in November, Square Enix’s Dan Seto said on the forums that Final Fantasy XV will be complete:

Don’t worry, FFXV will be a complete experience so you won’t feel that any of it is incomplete :).

The DLC is being planned because people like to have some extra, optional stuff to do after they’ve 100% completed their games but like Tabata-san said, all the DLC is still in the planning phase since they’re still obviously making the main game. The DLC may be released for free but that depends on what it ends up being but it’s still being planned so we’ll see what the team come up with.

What’s your release date prediction for FFXV?
