Toki Tori 2+ Adds Telepathic Frogs, Releases February 23 for PS4 at Retail & Digital Stores

Developer Two Tribes announced today that Toki Tori 2+ will release for the PlayStation 4 on February 23 in North America and Europe at retail and digital stores.

Already available on Wii U and PC, Toki Tori 2+ on PS4 is the “best version yet” thanks to the addition of telepathic frogs. While Toki Tori 2 included no written or spoken words, no tutorial, and no opening, this version of Toki Tori 2+ includes some backstory, as Writer Niels ‘t Hooft explained:

The mysterious pollution that bubbles up everywhere, that Toki Tori has to stop? That was forewarned by five ancient frogs. But they were kicked out of the capital city. Now our hero has to find the frogs, restore the environment, and hope that his home world won’t fall from the sky in the process.

The ancient frogs were always essential to the game’s second half, but now they communicate with Toki Tori from the start. They do this collectively, telepathically, and a tad Yoda-like (making the game semi-verbal instead of non-verbal). Grumbling and begrudgingly, the frogs give you details of your quest via thought bubbles.

Described as a “Metroidvania style puzzle adventure,” Toki Tori 2+ allows you to discover how to interact with creatures in your environment, and you can follow the path, or stray off it, to tackle the expert puzzles.

A trailer wasn’t given for the PS4 version, so we’ve included the PC launch trailer above.
