Resident Evil 7 Demo Files Reveal Plot Details, DLC Plans

Capcom released the Resident Evil 7 demo Beginning Hour on Steam this week, and now new information is known about the upcoming horror game. This is due to hackers who looked into the game’s files to learn more. New details include a possible returning character from the series’ past (although this seems unlikely), and the upcoming DLC plans.

The information that is making the most rounds online are files that indicate a character named Albert is in the game. That has naturally led to some people to guess that it’s a returning Albert Wesker, who was thought to be dead. Here are the files in question:

It’s worth noting that the NeoGAF poster that found these files says there is no relation to Wesker, and that it “sounds like it’s just his guns appear in the game.” Nobody can be for certain until the game is out next year, so don’t celebrate or mourn the return of Wesker just yet.

Other new details go into the game’s upcoming four DLC packs. According to the files, the first set of content will be a puzzle-based chapter. The second one revolves around some sort of card game, and the third DLC is a survival mode where the player has to take out waves of enemies. Finally, the fourth and final DLC is a story chapter that has three different endings that can be obtained.

There are more specific spoilers over at the NeoGAF thread (including a full outline of theorized events), so check that out if you just can’t wait to know what happens. Resident Evil 7 biohazard is set to release January 24, 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
