By “P2P”, we mean “pay-to-play” as well as “peer-to-peer”. During the GamesCom video game event in Cologne, Germany, Wes Yanagi from Sony Online Entertainment was interviewed by OneLastContinue and revealed some enticing incentives to anticipate DC Universe Online.

During the interview, Yanagi gave more strong suspicion that DC Universe Online was going to be taking the micro-transaction and expansion pack route for raking in revenue (ala Free Realms, also by SOE) although not officially confirmed by the department heads at Sony. On top of this, Yanagi confirmed the usage of “open-platform servers”.

With open-platform servers, players will be able to play with the entire DC Universe online community whether they are on PC or PS3. While the DC-licensed MMO is still a ways off from being released, it’s safe to say that DC Universe Online will be a force to reckon with.
